Visa and Letter of invitation
Delegates from specific countries need a visa to visit Denmark. Please read more on and also find the list of the countries from where you need a visa. (Please note that you cannot apply for a visa earlier than three months before expected date of departure from your home country). 

Paper Copy of the Proceedings
IOS Press offers a paper copy of the Proceedings to conference participants for the discount price of Euros 99. This will need to be ordered in advance of the event.

IMIA General Assembly Meeting 2013

The IMIA General Assembly (GA) meeting for 2013 will be held on 20 August 2013. Attendance at this meeting is by invitation only. We will send the first formal invitations to the representatives of IMIA Member Societies, Institutional Members, and other GA members by mid May. We ask that all members ensure we have correct email contact information for them. We will have a tight schedule (as normal when the GA is held with Medinfo), and need to complete the meeting in time for the Medinfo2013 opening session.

The IMIA Board met in Dubai, UAE on 21 April 2013 in conjunction with the 4th MEAHI conference. Several issues were discussed that will form the basis of important discussion and decisions needed at the 2013 GA meeting; details will be sent to GA members in preparation for that meeting.

Events in Canada, May 2013 - IFHIMA and COACH

Two important events take place in Canada in May, 2013. We hope that many IMIA colleagues will be able to participate in and support at least one of them (we know not everyone can get to every event), and we wish the organisers every success.

The 17th IFHIMA (International Federation of Health Information Management Associations) Congress will be held on May 13-15, 2013, in Montréal, Québec, Canada. See  The venue will be the Palais des congrès de Montréal, located in the heart of downtown Montréal. CHIMA (Canadian Health Information Management Association - will be hosting the event, and the Canadian Nursing Informatics Association (CNIA - is also partnering in the event. Those not able to attend can follow the event on Twitter -
IFHIMA ( is an Affiliate Member of IMIA, and IMIA is pleased to be able to participate in the IFHIMA General Assembly meeting to be held on 12 May in conjunction with the Congress.

COACH (Canada's Health Informatics Association - will be holding their annual e-Health conference in Ottawa, Canada on 26-29 May (venue the Ottawa Convention Centre). The theme is Accelerating Change, and full details are at  There is a conference blog at   In addition to pre-conference workshops, there will also be the Canadian Telehealth Forum, and plenary sessions on 'Big Data and Quality in Healthcare' and 'The Consumerization of e-Health'.  COACH is an IMIA Member Society.


HIC 2013 Conference (Adelaide, Australia) - Early Bird Rate Closes 20 May

2013 Transnational Summit on Trustworthy Use of Data for Health

IMIA will host the 2013 Transnational Summit on Trustworthy Use of Data for Health ( (note revised name and URL) on 3-4 June 2013 in Brussels, Belgium at Le Plaza Hotel. The Summit will build on the discussions and activities initiated at the 2012 European Summit on Trustworthy Reuse of Health Data, and at a recent consultation hosted by the WHO in Geneva. NI2014 - 12th International Congress of Nursing Informatics

NI 2014, the 12th International Congress on Nursing Informatics, will be held at the Taipei International Convention Center (very near to Taipei 101) on June 21-25, 2014.

NI2014The theme of the conference is “eSmart + ” where “e” stands for eHealth, “S” implies simplicity, “m” represents mobility and meaningful use, “a” denotes advanced leadership, “r” indicates revolution, “t” means translational technologies, and “+” symbolizes People Leading uCare Safely. The acronym is also used to convey the idea of adopting smart technology to help health providers deliver higher quality care. The call for submissions will open soon, and will close in mid-September 2013. Decisions will be notified by mid-December 2013. World of Health IT, eHealth Week 2013 - Dublin, Ireland

eHealth Week 2013 will be held at the Dublin Convention Centre, Dublin, Ireland on 13-15 May, 2013. It will bring together two main events: the High Level eHealth Conference co-organised by the European Commission and the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and WoHIT (World of Health IT Conference & Exhibition) organised by HIMSS Europe. The event not only brings industry partners and providers from across Europe, but also important government and regional decision makers. Medicine 2.0'13 Conference - London, UK
The next Medicine 2.0 event will be Medicine 2.0’13 (the 6th World Congress on Social Media, Mobile Apps, and Internet/Web2.0 in Health and Medicine,) to be held in London, UK on 23-24 September, 2013. The venue will be Kensington Town Hall. The event will be in collaboration with the Oxford Internet Institute, University College London, and other partners. See for full information. Socialstyrelsen söker läkare för arbete med Ordinationsorsak

Socialstyrelsen söker nu läkare, helst med specialistkompetens, som kan hålla informationen för kodsystemet Nationell källa för ordinationsorsak uppdaterad och kvalitetssäkrad på löpande basis. Arbetet innebär också att ge användarstöd till hälso- och sjukvårdsverksamheter som vill implementera kodsystemet samt bidra i den strategiska utvecklingen av kodsystemet.

Sabine Koch ny ordförande i IMIA

SFMI gratulerar professor Sabine Koch, tidigare ordförande i SFMI, till att nu ha blivit vald till nästa ordförande i IMIA, International Medical Informatics Association. IMIA har en viktig roll internationellt i tillämpning av ny teknik och informatik inom hälso- och sjukvården och i klinisk forskning. Vi är övertygade om att Sabine Koch kommer att göra ett strålande jobb som nästa IMIA ordförande.
