Instructions for Authors

Submissions for MIE2018 can be Full papers, short communication, posters, panel, workshops, demonstrations and tutorials. Accepted full papers will be published by IOS Press in their open access series “Studies in Health Technology and Informatics” and indexed in MEDLINE/PubMed, SciVerse Scopus, EMCare, Book Citation Index – Science and Thomson Reuters’ Conference Proceedings Citation Index. Short paper, extended abstracts, panel and workshop abstract submissions will be made available via the conference website in non-indexed program book.

Full papers

Full papers containing original work that are submitted for publication in the indexed conference proceedings by the IOS Press should not exceed 5 pages and must adhere to the IOS template and guidelines.

Short Communication

Short communication is an extended abstract that should not exceed 2 pages, using IOS template. Short Communication must be structured in the following format: Introduction Method Results Discussion Conclusion

Posters

A poster submission typically presents on-going work and preliminary results. The submission should not exceed 2 pages, adhere to the IOS template and be structures in the following format: Introduction Method Results Discussion Conclusion

Workshops

We welcome submissions of workshops for 90-minute sessions (only). The workshop must allow at least 30 minutes for discussion or other interactive forms of collaborative working with the intended audience. The submission should not exceed 3 pages using the IOS template. The Scientific Programme Committee encourages equal representation of women and men among the speakers. Workshop abstracts should outline the following: Topic Rationale Outcome Programme

Panels

A panel is a 90-minute session during the main conference programme that focuses on a specific topic. A panel would typically feature 3-5 panelists giving a brief presentation or making a position statement, followed by at least 30 minutes of discussion with an active role for the audience. The submission should not exceed 3 pages using the IOS template. The Scientific Programme Committee encourages equal representation of women and men on panels. Panel abstracts should outline the following: Title; Brief description of the panel’s topic; Panellists’ short bio.

Demonstrations

Authors who are accepted for a demonstration will be required to present for 45 minutes. The submission should not exceed 2 pages using the IOS template. Demonstration abstracts should outline the following: Topic and Contents of the demonstration.

Tutorials

Authors of accepted tutorials will be required to present a three-hour tutorial during the pre-conference (23rd April 2018). The submission should not exceed 3 pages using the IOS template. Tutorial abstracts should outline the following: Topic Audience Level Overview description of the contents
